Tanni D Awa (Mottanni) (R) and President-Elect Basirou Diamaye (L)

The poem, titled "He’s Excellency President Elect Basirou Diamaye Faye," commends President-Elect Faye for his courage in pursuing his dreams, overcoming challenges, and inspiring the youth of Senegal and beyond. The Abakwa boy praises the spirit of Alkebulan (Africa) that resides within President-Elect Faye and acknowledges the role of democracy in fostering progress in the nation.

Acknowledging the potential obstacles that President-Elect Faye may face, including skepticism from older generations and opposition from various quarters, Mottanni urges the leader to seek wisdom from all sources, including critics and supporters alike. The poem emphasizes the importance of listening to diverse perspectives and staying true to the vision of serving the people of Senegal and Alkebulan.

As President-Elect Faye prepares to implement his plans for change and development, Mottanni calls for a focus on the well-being of the Senegalese people and the future of the continent. The poem encourages President-Elect Faye to navigate international pressures with wisdom and to prioritize the interests of his nation and the broader African community.

Tanni Awa offers prayers for President-Elect Faye, invoking the guidance and protection of ancestors and the divine Creator in his leadership journey. The tribute concludes with blessings for Senegal and Alkebulan (Africa), underscoring the hope for positive transformation under President-Elect Faye's leadership.

Editors note

Senegal's Constitutional Council officially declared opposition candidate Bassirou Diomaye Faye as the winner of the presidential election, this becoming the country's fifth president.

Faye secured over 54% of the votes in the delayed election, while the ruling coalition's Amadou Ba received just over 35%. Faye is set to be sworn in on April 2, succeeding current President Macky Sall.
