FECAFOOT Elections: North West delegate denies being part of those who declared support for Seidou Mbombo Njoya

By Bakah Derick

One of six delegates to represent North West at the up coming general assembly of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has denied being part of any meeting in Garoua to declare support for Seidou Mbombo Njoya in his bid to succeed himself as President of the football governing body.

The delegate who spoke to Hilltopvoices in Bamenda on the evening of Sunday 5 December 2021 in Bamenda on condition of anonymity began by stating "this must be a miracle. I cannot be here in Bamenda and a document is circulating with the claims that I am amongst those declaring support for someone in Garoua."

According to the delegate "elections at FECAFOOT are by secret ballots" and "it makes no sense for people to go making those type of declarations"

"I understand this is politics but we cannot be this childish. The worst part is taking public engagements on behalf of others. Seidou Mbombo Njoya is a candidate like any other and deserves respect though but such outings in his favour are not good for him."

The delegate has however refused to tell Hilltopvoices who shall be voting for.

"If I tell you who i will be voting for then what moral authority do i have to castigate those who declared their support in Garoua? I think we need to do things with dignity in this country." He fumed
A letter  has circulated on social media carrying the name and possibly signature of the President of North West Regional league of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

According to the document, delegates from the North West Region to the FECAFOOT general assembly met in Garoua on Sunday 5 December 2021 and gave their support to the incumbent football association (FA) board chairman Seidou Mbombo Njoya.

Joining delegates from five other regions according to the document signed by the concerned league presidents, the North West says Seidou Mbombo Njoya's manifesto is convincing, reaslitic and innovative.

The sitting FA President has reacted on his page thanking the delegates for their support.

Other candidates contesting for the FA top job are yet to react to the declaration.

In 2018, North West voted Antoine Bell against Seidou Mbombo Njoya though they declared support for the later.
