United Trust Fund Group opens doors in Bamenda, targets more organised property investment

A new real estate and asset management company, United Trust Fund Group, has officially opened its doors in Bamenda, positioning itself as a platform through which individuals and businesses can access property, investment and other asset management opportunities.

Located at Mile 2 Junction, Nkwen, the company was inaugurated and blessed by the Archbishop of Bamenda, His Grace Andrew Nkea Fuanya, in the presence of Bishop George Nkuo of Kumbo, members of the company's board and collaborators.

Before the cutting of the ribbon and unveiling of the inauguration plaque, Archbishop Andrew Nkea prayed for the company, its proprietors and the work to be carried out from the facility.

He asked God to bless the building and the work of its owners, describing the initiative as an example of what young people can achieve when they plan, work and seek to create opportunities for themselves and others.

“The work that I have seen here today indicates to us what young people can do, how people can sit down and plan their future, and with the blessing of God, they can achieve,” the Archbishop said.

He particularly welcomed the focus of the company on real estate and property management, describing it as an area that is “not very common in our own society”.

The Archbishop also used the occasion to encourage young people to move beyond waiting for formal employment and consider creating their own economic opportunities.

“Everyone should try to see how they can create something for themselves, learn how to catch fish, and not wait for anybody to give you fish to eat,” he said.

According to the Board Chairman of United Trust Fund Group, King Suh, the company is seeking to build a community oriented investment model around property and other assets.

He said the company wants to create avenues through which individuals can participate in investment and benefit from economic opportunities within their communities.

“When we talk about United Trust Fund Group, we talk about real estate assets,” King Suh explained, adding that the approach by the
company includes what he described as tokenisation, with the broader objective of enabling members of the community to participate in investment opportunities.

He said the company intends to work with investors and business agents under arrangements that provide for profit sharing. According to him, investors may receive 60 per cent of net profit, while agents who bring businesses to the platform may receive 40 per cent of net profit, subject to the applicable agreements.

Among the services presented by the company are property rental services, buying and selling of plots, assistance with property acquisition, and investment in treasury bonds, alongside other asset related services.

Board member Dr Bamnjo Herman said the company was established against the backdrop of a challenge he sees in the local economy stating that people may have money but lack the knowledge, structures or opportunities needed to put it into productive investment.

“People have money and they cannot invest,” he said.

“People have money; they cannot have maybe structures. People cannot have land to buy.” he added

He explained that United Trust Fund Group intends to help clients identify land and buildings and facilitate their acquisition, depending on the agreement reached with each client.

The company also intends to support people involved in construction by helping them identify sources of building materials, including sand and stone, according to Dr Bamnjo.

He further said the company could assist clients interested in treasury bonds, presenting this as part of a wider effort to make investment opportunities more accessible.

The Board Chairman said another problem United Trust Fund Group hopes to address is the fragmented nature of some local businesses.

According to King Suh, Bamenda has businesses with potentially viable products and services, but some lack the organisation and market structures required to grow.

The company, he said, wants to identify such opportunities and help organise them in ways that can make products and services easier for consumers to access.

The approach is particularly relevant in an economy where individuals and small businesses often operate with limited access to formal investment structures, reliable property information and professional asset management.

United Trust Fund Group is therefore presenting itself as an intermediary between people with capital, people seeking property and businesses seeking investment or organisational support.

The launch comes at a time when property ownership and investment in Cameroon can involve significant financial and legal risks. Land ownership disputes, unclear documentation, informal transactions and inadequate due diligence can expose investors to losses.

For that reason, the long term credibility of United Trust Fund Group will depend not only on the range of services it advertises, but also on the transparency of its investment arrangements, proper documentation, professional property valuation and clear agreements with clients.

At its inauguration, however, the leadership presented its ambition as one of creating a more structured avenue for people to participate in property and asset related opportunities.

According to Archbishop Andrew Nkea, the greater value of such an initiative lies in its potential to create economic opportunities beyond its immediate proprietors.

“Let many people of our society benefit from this initiative, and also let more young people see how they can create employment for themselves, and not wait for others to employ them,” he said.
