Save The Crown: Preserving Cultural Heritage

A Project By Hilltopvoices Cameroon; Here are some of our thoughts

One of the things that keep our integrity as a people is our Culture. Consequently the preservation of our culture is an obligation for those who value their integrity and must there be transmitted to their generations. #SaveTheCrown

If we must provide a sense of identity and continuity in this fast changing world then we have to conserve our cultural heritage for future generations. The office of the Fon represented amongst others by the Crown basically represent the past history and culture of our people. This must be saved. #SaveTheCrown

Whosoever takes the Crown of office as a Fon, traditional or Cultural leader must at all times preserve the legacy of the physical artifacts and intangible attributes inherited from past generations of that particular group or society.  #SaveTheCrown

Giving someone the crown as symbol of authority and office only makes the person a custodian (administrator) of the people’s or community assets and not the owner. #SaveTheCrown

Culture influences our lives, our views, our hopes, our loyalties, our happiness, In fact it’s an important part of our lives. Don’t kill it because you have been made a custodian. #SaveTheCrown
