Measles and Rubella: Ako amongst 25 health districts targeted for vaccination in Cameroon

Cameroon's Ministry of public Health has announced a free vaccination campaign against measles and rubella in 25 health districts across the country including Ako in Misaje subdivision Dunga Mantung division. According to Civiclens; an online news outlet, the campaign will run from October 5-9, 2022.

Measles is a viral infection that affects children and can be prevented through vaccination. Though treatable by medical professionals, measles can be very uncomfortable for kids. 

It is a respiratory infection Spread mainly through droplets produced from coughing or sneezing. Salivas, touching of contaminated surfaces, skin to skin contacts and mother to baby transmission by pregnancy, labour and nursing. 
Rubella on its part is a contagious viral infection also preventable by vaccine and best known by its distinctive red rash. The disease can spread through direct contact with the saliva or mucus of an infected person or through the air by respiratory droplets produced from coughing or sneezing.
