The session, set for 10:30 a.m. at the Council’s hearing room in the Palais des Congrès, is a critical step in the electoral process. It will address challenges to the acceptance or rejection of candidate files, giving those whose applications were denied a judicial avenue consistent with principles of transparency and electoral fairness.

A total of 35 appeals have been lodged with the Constitutional Council. Among those challenging the decisions is opposition leader and law Professor Maurice Kamto, nominated by MANIDEM. Each case will be scrutinised before the publication of the final list of approved candidates, a process that reinforces the Council’s central role in overseeing the integrity of the election.

The outcome of these deliberations could reshape the presidential race, potentially altering the political line-up as campaigning gains momentum.
