National Assembly: SDF MPs 'betray' own Hon.Nintcheu in contest against Cavaye

By Nfor Nkfu

Honourable Jean Michel Nintcheu,SDF  Member of parliament for Wouri East Constituency has received the greatest form of betrayal from his party colleagues at the National Assembly. This was demonstrated March 18th,2022 during the election of the Speaker of the House
To the surprise of many,Jean Michel Nintcheu,MP challenged long time Speaker Cavaye Yegue Djibril who has always stood unopposed.

According to the results of the election, incumbent Cayaye Yegue Djibril secured 148 votes while Jean Michel Nintcheu secured one vote(apparently his own). Meanwhile 12 null ballots were recorded.
It should be recalled that SDF currently occupy 5 seats in the 180-member chamber.Political commentators are wondering how an SDF candidate will secure one vote in a house, the party has five members .

After the election of the Speaker, Hon Osih Joshua who doubles as Vice national chairman of the SDF was given the position of Questor confirming speculations that he might have 'betrayed' his party comrade for a bureau position in the CPDM dominated house.
Hon.Nintcheu is the only MP in more than a decade to challenge the long time Speaker.Hon Adama Modi,a CPDM Mp from the Far North had tried unsuccessfully. He was several times summoned before the disciplinary committe of the party for going against party discipline and was later on booted out of the National Assembly by his party.

Cavaye Yegue Djibril ,age 82  became MP in 1970 and has been speaker since 1992.
