FECAFOOT NW: Referees accuse own President for taking sides

By Bakah Derick

Referees being owed payments for several match playing days since 2019 say their association president has taken sides with the officials of the regional league of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

Speaking to this reporter in reaction to the declarations of their leader to Hilltopvoices, the disgruntled match officials say his position does not reflect the reality.

"We are happy he admitted that the federation owes us but to give the impression that it is for a few days or that there was a day they wanted to pay is not true" one of the referees confined to Hilltopvoices fuming.

The referees association president Jani Benedict told Hilltopvoices that there was a day the regional football body wanted to pay the referees but there was a mixup and that was not done. This has not gone down well with the vexed referees.

"In this difficult times in the North West someone cannot claim that they wanted to pay and something happened and so when was that? Till now they have not paid so what has happened.? " the referee continued

While admitting that there has been an improvement in their pay from 2000frs to 10.000 as indicated by Jani, the vexed referees say they cannot put their head forward because they fear being victimised.

"Some people could be wondering why we have continued to work despite the debts. This is because we are looking beyond the North West and we know these big people, should we refuse to work, they will never accept us participate in any promotion talkless of being promoted. We know them."

The referees have maintained that they are owed since 2019 being;

-last two playing days of the NW regional league 2019/20 season,

- last two playing days NW regional league 2020/21,

- NW Mini-Interpools 2021,  1/2 finals and finals and

-Cup of Cameroon eliminatries 2021 last 2 playing days not paid.

FECAFOOT NW officials have remained mute on the subject
