World Earth Day 2022: CAMGEW observes with Children

By Bakah Derick The Bamenda based not-for-profit nongovernmental organisation Cameroon Gender and Environment Watch (CAMGEW) has observed this year's edition of World Earth Day with children. The observance took place at the organisation's office in Bamenda on Saturday 23 April 2022 with the participating children learning the importance of flowers to man, animal, insects and nature.  Children drawing flowers during the event  Like elsewhere in the world, CAMGEW and the children observed the day under the theme "Invest in our Planet." Mile 2 Nkwen Mosque project: Over 38M FCFA realised for completion and expansion

By Bakah Derick  Muslims and non Muslims from across Cameroon and beyond have raised slightly above 38.8M FCFA targeting the completion and expansion of the Mile 2 Nkwen Mosque. The fundraiser that took place on Sunday 27 February 2022 according to the organisers,  projected the raising of 46M FCFA to reach the 100M project cost.  Community participation ensuring decking of the third floor   Speaking at the opening of the fundraiser, the project chairperson indicated that 54M has so far been consumed by the Masjid/Dawaa Center which will serve as a place of prayer for Muslims around mile 2 Nkwen. Alhaji Yaya went on to motivate all reminding them that all donations made in the name of Allah cannot go unrewarded.  From about 7am to 6pm, invitees and donors from far off areas like Yaounde, Kumba,  Douala etc joined those from the North West Region and Bamenda in particular to hand in their financial or material support for the project.  Donations being

AFCON 2021: Battle for Religious legitimacy hit peak as Senegal heads to final

By Bakah Derick  The video of an unidentified Speaker said to be a Christian Pastor predicting the winner of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cameroon 2021 has gone viral. The man who predicts that an Arab African Country will win the tournament contradicts a witch doctor who had earlier predicted Senegal as winner. Though others had made predictions, these two have remained relevant as the potential winners according to their positions are still on course as the contest narrows down to three.  The man who predicted an Arab African Country as winner described by some news sites as a prophet and identifying him as a Nigerian  that the Nations Cup will be lifted by an Arab African country. And on the day of the finals, the player that shall fetch the cup for them shall be player number 10. FECAFOOT NW: Referees accuse own President for taking sides

By Bakah Derick Referees being owed payments for several match playing days since 2019 say their association president has taken sides with the officials of the regional league of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).  Speaking to this reporter in reaction to the declarations of their leader to Hilltopvoices, the disgruntled match officials say his position does not reflect the reality.  "We are happy he admitted that the federation owes us but to give the impression that it is for a few days or that there was a day they wanted to pay is not true" one of the referees confined to Hilltopvoices fuming.  The referees association president Jani Benedict told Hilltopvoices that there was a day the regional football body wanted to pay the referees but there was a mixup and that was not done. North West Interpool 2020/2021: Tribunal reinstated Bamenda FC at Semi finals

By Bakah Derick  After being reinstated by a decision of the homologation chambers of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Bamenda FC has clinched one of four available tickets for the semi finals of the ongoing North West Interpool.  Bamenda FC saw off Santos FC 2-0 on Saturday 14 August 2021 during the quarter finals. Loibinho Cheson scored twice to take his team to the last four of the regional playoffs.  Coach Mbitakang Simon's  men will take on Rangers FC of Bafut in one of two semi final matches programmed for Thursday 18 August 2021 at the PS Ntaafi field in Bamendakwe. The homologation committee of the regional FECAFOOT league had earlier sanctioned Joseph's Dingha's team for using a player with falsified identify. They were disqualified from the playoffs despite picking a qualification against Rainbow FC. The red devils returned after their petition at the national FA tribunal went their way.  The second semi final fixture will pit Universal Soccer
