Traditional Recognition: Prof Bolak Mark Funteh conferred highest title In Nwa

Prof Bolak Mark Funteh, Director of the Higher Teachers Training College (HTTC)  better known as ENS Bambili has been conferred the highest traditional title reserved for deserving and outstanding sons and daughters of Nwa, Donga Mantung Division. This title confered on Saturday November 26, 2022 in the history of the people, has been conferred only to three persons being Ambassador Kengong Moni, Colonel Moni and now Prof Bolak Mark Funteh.

The President of the Fons Union of Nwa, HRM Fon Ngwim Samuel while conferring the title with a decoration of a black cap, a red feather with handy raffia bags to carry his drinking cup said, "this is the highest title on the whole of Yamba in Nwa and we the fathers of that Subdivision confer this title as a sign of recognition for the strides not only made in education but also for his uncommon skills for reconciling people. This title called Conciliator of the people didnot come by chance but about what has been able to do in the past as well as doing among the people of Yamba. This appointment which is thanks to President Paul Biya, has reconciled the people of Nwa and the government. 

On his part the member of Parliament for Nwa, Hon Adamou Edward said they come from an area where it is not easy and that everywhere he goes his cry is about  electricity, roads and water in Nwa. 


The MP called on his people to  support education and send children to school because education open doors to so many opportunities. Prof Bolak, he said is today celebrated because he went to school. To have been appointed Director of HTTC is the first of it's kind in the history of Donga Mantung Division.

"....Peace is priceless and no amount of money can buy peace......All we need to do is to support the head of State as he has recognized us with this appointment of our brother as Director of HTTC Bambili..." he said.


The solemn conferment ceremony brought together top notables from Nwa subdivision and took place at his Bamenda residence.

Conciliator Professor Bolak Mark Funteh who is now the guide of the people of Nwa said, it is a call to service for the people. He saluted his fathers the Fons for the recognition of his person finding him worthy of such a title in the land. He seized this opportunity to thank the Head of State wishing him good health to continue to pilot the ship of State.

They own, and with pride, use Lamnso (language of Nso) anywhere they are found. They are from the grassfields of Cameroon, with capital being Kimbo (or today known as Kumbo), the Nso People have a rare structured traditional administrative setup, with the Fon at the summit; then there are the   Vibai, aShufai, aYaa, aFai, aShey, etc.  Yeeh Ngwerong  The very religious people give uncommon value to their traditional beliefs, yet are so attached to Christianity and Islam, the two main religions apart from the traditional practices.
