The Member of Parliament for Bafut Tubah Constituency, Agho Oliver Bamenju, has donated roofing materials to the people of Kezouh Quarter in Kedjom Ketinguh to support the construction of a community hall project aimed at strengthening local development and social cohesion.
The donation was made on Sunday 10 May 2026 following an appeal addressed to the MP by the Kezouh community dated 5 May 2026. In the letter which Hilltopvoices has a copy, community leaders explained that the hall project had reached about 45 per cent completion, with walls raised and roof planks already mounted, but lacked roofing materials to move to the next phase.
Responding within days of receiving the request, Hon. Agho Oliver handed over roofing sheets of two different models alongside zinc nails to community representatives.
The community hall project, measuring approximately 11 metres by 9 metres with three additional rooms, is expected to serve as a venue for meetings, family gatherings, ceremonies and other communal activities.
Speaking during the handover, Hon. Agho Oliver said the efforts already invested by the community could not be ignored, especially at a time when heavy rains posed a threat to the unfinished structure.
Residents of Kezouh Quarter receiving donation from their MP, Hon Agho Oliver Bamenju,“The effort of the community cannot be underestimated,” he said. “With the rains already here, it was important that the building should not remain exposed at roofing level because it risks destruction.”
He expressed hope that the completed hall would strengthen unity and peace within the community by providing a common space for dialogue and collective activities.
“I hope the people will continue to come together here for meetings and activities that promote peace and coexistence within the community,” the MP added.
Quarter head Atong Christopher Vichas described the intervention as timely and deeply encouraging for residents who had relied largely on local contributions to sustain the project.
“Our local contributions were limited, so we needed support,” he said adding that “We made an appeal to our MP and he responded very quickly. We are very grateful for this support.”
Current state of the Hall projectAccording to him, the donated materials would significantly accelerate completion of the structure.
“What we had achieved was about 45 per cent. This support is pushing the project close to completion,” he stated.
He added that the hall would serve several community purposes once completed.
“We will use it for local meetings, family gatherings, marriages and activities that can accommodate between 150 and 250 people,” he explained.
The initiative adds to ongoing community development efforts within the Bafut-Tubah constituency where local leaders continue to call for stronger collaboration between elected officials and grassroots communities to improve social infrastructure and reinforce peace building initiatives which Hon Agho Oliver has described as his major source of joy to assist in such activities.
