Bamenda III Council completes multipurpose hall, Mbelem bridge

The longstanding challenges of inadequate public infrastructure and poor road connectivity in Bamenda III received a major boost on Tuesday 2 September 2025, as the Council provisionally received two key projects: the Bamenda III Multi-purpose Hall and the Mbelem Bridge with its rehabilitated road. The projects were executed by Forban and Sons Enterprise under the leadership of Mayor Fongu Cletus Tanwe.

For years, families and community groups lacked a modern venue for social and cultural gatherings, while residents of Mbelem had challenges during rainy seasons due to a poor bridge linking the quater to national road number VI and its deteriorated road. These gaps made daily life and economic activity increasingly difficult.

The newly completed multipurpose hall, fitted with banquet chairs and able to host about one thousand guests, now provides a dignified space for weddings, cultural events, and official ceremonies. Mayor Fongu expressed deep appreciation to FEICOM for sponsoring the project and praised Forban and Sons Enterprise for delivering it to standard.

“This hall responds to a real need in our municipality, and its impact will be felt for generations,” he said.

The Mbelem Bridge and rehabilitated road, with constractor installed on 26 June 2025 and officially handed over during Tuesday’s ceremony, are already transforming access to the Mbelem community. Residents spoke of the relief of being able to move freely to schools, markets, and health facilities.

Mayor Fongu pledged that the Council will ensure routine maintenance to keep the road and bridge functional throughout the year, underscoring the Council’s commitment to sustainable development.

The reception of these two projects marks another major achievement in Bamenda III’s infrastructure push. By blending FEICOM’s financial backing, Forban and Sons’ technical delivery, and the Council’s leadership, the municipality has addressed long-standing problems with solutions that directly improve the daily lives of its citizens.
