Final Farewell: Funeral Programme for Late Msgr. Engelbert Kofon Announced, Burial Set for April 5th

The funeral programme for the former Vicar General and Rector of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary (STAMS) Bambui is contained in a letter addressed to authorities and Catholic Christians on Easter Sunday 31 March 2024.
The funeral programme engages the Roman Catholic community in Bamenda to prepare to bid a final farewell to the late Msgr. Engelbert Kofon, with a series of Requiem Masses and ceremonies scheduled to take place from April 4th to 5th.

The funeral programme, announced by the Rev Fr Derek Che, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, will culminate in the burial of the beloved clergyman.

The solemn proceedings will begin on Thursday, April 4th, with the removal of Msgr. Kofon's mortal remains from the St Blaise hospital mortuary to the Cathedral in Mankon. A series of Requiem Masses will be held throughout the day, led by various clergy members and attended by parishioners and community members from different parishes.

On Friday, April 5th, the funeral programme will continue with additional Requiem Masses, including a special service for family members and members of specific parishes where Msgr. Kofon had served. The Archbishop of Bamenda, His Grace Andrew Nkea Fuanya, will preside over the final Funeral Mass, offering prayers and blessings for the departed priest.

The community is urged to participate in the funeral programme and keep Msgr. Engelbert Kofon in their thoughts and prayers during this time of mourning.
