Roman Catholic Church: Profile of New Mamfe Bishop Fr Aloysius Fondong Abangalo

The Roman Catholic Dioese of Mamfe in the Ecclesiastical Province of Bamenda now has a new Bishop. The Administrator of the Diocese also  Archbishop of Bamenda His Grace Andrew Nkea presented the new Bishop  to the Diocese on Tuesday 22 February 2022. The appointment decision presented the Most Rev Fr Aloysius Fondong Abangalo of the Diocese of Buea and a formator at the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Bambui as the new Bishop.

Born on June 5,1973 in Limbe, in the Diocese of Buéa, Fr Aloysius Fondong studied Philosophy and Theology as part of his priestly formation at the St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Bambui North West Region. 

He was ordained  priest on April 20, 2006. 

Before his appointment as Bishop,  he has served as Vicar of the Holy Family Parish of Limbe (2006-2007); Dean of Our Lady of Grace College in Muyuka (2007-2009); Diocesan Treasurer and Member of the College of Consultors (2009-2011); formator at the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Bambui and Defender of the Bond at the Interdiocesan Tribunal of Bamenda (2014-2019).

He holds a Licentiate in Canon Law from the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC) (2011-2014) and has been studying for his Doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Urbaniana University since 2019.
