BAMENDA: Soldier shoots, kills two in state-owned Hotel

By Nfor Nkfu

A Cameroon soldier has sent two armless  civilians into their early graves in Bamenda, Capital of the crisis plagued North West region.
Ibrahim Yinju Talla one of those killed

Inhabitants were taken aback when news broke that two civilians were shot death around  Ayaba hotel by a trigger happy soldier at the close of Tuesday February 22nd , 2022.

www.hilltopvoices.com gathered that those killed were Ibrahim Yinju Talla, a business man and proprietor of Mawa hotel in mile six Nkwen, and Che Henry ,an electric engineer. Others who were with them at the spot narrowly escaped , at the fall of the two friends.

A statement from the office of the governor of the North West region confirmed the shooting incident blaming it on alcohol.

"...the two were shot dead by a soldier on duty at Ayaba hotel after a dispute", Said Governor Adolf Lele L'Afrique in a statement.

"...the three were drinking together. It is alleged that the soldier and the victims were acting under the influence of alcohol." the statement added.

The governor also said the soldier who perpetrated the shooting has been apprehended and placed under custody.

It should be noted that similar incidents have occurred in the past with no justice rendered to the victims despite assurances from the government that justice will take it's course.

Cases in point include killers of children in Ngarbuh in 2020, killer of Tataw Brandy a 12-year school going kid murdered in cool blood in late 2021, amongst others.

Failure of government to commit soldiers to face justice makes observers to believe that they have been license to kill with impunity in the restive North West and South West regions where a Separatist Conflict has been persisting for about five years now.
