Diocese of Kumbo: Ordination to Priesthood holds despite restive nature of the area

Bishop of Kumbo has ordained six new priests for his diocese.

His Lordship George Nkuo consecrated the new priests on Thursday April 8 at the the ceremonial ground of St Augustine's College Nso with hundreds in attendance despite security concerns in the area. 



The six candidates whose names we got as Fr. Josepg Tangwven, Fr. Lambert Shang,  Fr. Jude Tanlaka. Fr. Jean Robert Wisrsiy, Fr. Desmus Keman and Fr. Joseph Tata have been challenged to celebrate the sacraments with reverence and be examplary by word and deed.

Rev Fr Jude Tanlaka on behalf of the ordained has assured Christians of their readiness tp serve in this trying times with the sociopolitical and health crisis facing the diocese of Kumbo. He has asked the local faithful to pray for them as they begin the mission which he described as challenging.

 

Kumbo Diocese is one of the most restive areas since the start of the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions.

Bishop George Nkuo has  remained in his diocese close to the Christians despite the difficult terrain. Pictures of the Bishop have been seen on social media trekking to hard areas. He has been kidnapped severally by armed groups in the area. 

 

Late Cardinal Christian Tumi puts the number of people killed in the area at over 400. 

 

Recently images have emerged showing the military attacking and destroying installations by armed groups with admission of killings in the area.

They own, and with pride, use Lamnso (language of Nso) anywhere they are found.
