Ngong Rene Yuhbi has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Life Media Group in recognition of what organisers describe as his human touch in engineering and construction, an approach that blends technical rigour with practical responsiveness to client needs and community realities. The award was presented on Saturday, 28 March 2026, in Bamenda.

Ngong Rene Yuhbi

According to Rene Yuhbi, who serves as chief executive of Marion Construction Cabinet, the recognition comes against a backdrop of an industry marked by financial constraints, delayed payments and operational uncertainty. He frames the company’s work as both technical and service oriented, explaining that Marion operates across structural design, calculations, project execution and supervision, while also engaging in training and design programmes.

He describes the firm’s scope as covering “structural analysis, calculation, taking projects and executing them,” alongside the supply of materials where required, as well as supervision of projects to ensure standards are maintained from conception through delivery. He also points to the company’s involvement in training and design programmes as part of its broader contribution to building capacity within the sector.

Ngong Rene says the award reflects consistent work rather than a pursuit of recognition. He notes that such honours often arrive unexpectedly, adding that professionals “just do your work” and allow outcomes to speak over time. In his view, acknowledgement from external bodies serves as confirmation that efforts have been observed beyond immediate business circles.

On the significance of the award for both himself and the company, he suggests it reinforces a sense of responsibility rather than completion. The recognition, he indicates, is less an endpoint than a reminder to maintain standards and deepen commitment to quality delivery and client satisfaction.

He is candid about the pressures facing practitioners in the construction and engineering space in Cameroon. He highlights the need for personal commitment and ownership of projects, noting that challenges can arise where investments do not always translate into expected returns. In such conditions, he says, progress may feel uneven, requiring persistence and careful management to avoid setbacks.

Despite these constraints, he maintains that prudence has been central to sustaining operations. The emphasis, he explains, has been on doing the best possible work within prevailing limitations, even where financial outcomes do not immediately align with expectations.

Ngong Rene also uses the moment to direct attention towards younger professionals entering the field. He advises consistency in work ethic, honesty in dealings and prudence in managing projects and resources. In his assessment, these qualities are essential not only for individual success but also for building credibility in a sector where trust and reliability are critical.

The recognition places Marion Construction Cabinet within a broader conversation about professionalism and resilience in Cameroon’s engineering and construction landscape, where firms must navigate economic constraints while meeting growing demands for infrastructure and design services.
