Kongnyuy Jude, others join coaching ranks with Federal B License completion

One of the North West’s finest footballing talents, Kongnyuy Jude, has taken a major step in his career by successfully completing the Federal B coaching license, marking his official transition from player to coach. The former YOSA legend was among 14 coaches who recently received their Federal B licenses after a rigorous 10-day coaching course held in Bamenda. Kongnyuy, alongside fellow football great Yves Alain Dooh Moukoko, was awarded his attestation in a ceremony that recognised their commitment to advancing football development.

Speaking to the media following the ceremony, Kongnyuy Jude expressed both gratitude and a grounded sense of determination.

“I feel so grateful. I see it as the beginning. There is still much work ahead. This is just beginiing of the journey. Nobody should rely solely on this achievement. Hard work must continue, and there are many improvements we must make.” he said

Kongnyuy’s reflections reveal a mature understanding that earning a coaching license is not an endpoint but rather a foundation for further growth and contribution to the sport. He acknowledged the challenges of shifting from playing to coaching

“The journey was not an easy task for us, especially coming directly from a playing career. Transitioning roles in football always demands dedication and a fresh mindset.” he noted
Kongnyuy Jude, widely respected for his dynamic playing style and leadership on the pitch during his tenure with Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) and other clubs, has earned a reputation as one of the North West’s most talented footballers in history. His move into coaching represents a natural progression for a player keen on shaping the next generation of Cameroonian footballers.

Historically, players transitioning to coaching roles have faced hurdles, including adapting to tactical planning, player management, and the pressures of leading a team from the sidelines rather than the field. Kongnyuy’s recent qualification is a crucial first step in this career pivot.

The Federal B license under the supervision of the National Technical Directorate of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) with the guide of senior coaches is recognised as a necessary coaching certifications in Cameroon, equipping holders with knowledge in football tactics, training methodologies, and team leadership.

His commitment to continuing education in football and his desire to contribute positively to the game’s growth locally could play a vital role in nurturing grassroots talent and promoting structured football programmes.
Fellow coach Yves Alain Dooh Moukoko, who also earned his license alongside Kongnyuy, shares this vision of elevating football standards in the region.

A product of the Ecole de Foot Brasseries du Cameroun (1999–2004), Kongnyuy Jude enjoyed an illustrious playing career that saw him represent clubs at home and abroad, including Yong Sports Academy, USM Blida in Algeria, and Al-Ittihad of Aleppo in Syria, where he won the AFC Cup in 2011. He also played for Union Sportive de Douala, PWD Bamenda, Panthère du Nde, Foncha Street FC, and Nso United. On the international stage, he featured for Cameroon’s U18, U20, U21 and U23 teams, winning the Camac Cup in 2011 and reaching the U18 African Nations Cup semi-finals in Congo. Notably, he is YOSA’s all-time top scorer and was team captain across several seasons.
