Handed to him by North West Governor Adoph Lele L'Afrique, Mayor Fongu stood out distinctive amongst four others from across the North West as the only Mayor in the series.

According to the councilors, staff, traditional and civil society actors who turned out for the celebration, it is a merited distinction.

"We are here to celebrate our water, bridges, roads, markets and many other things the mayor has done for us in this municipality. We are proud of him and we are happy someone has recognized his efforts." A celebrant told hilltopvoices.

The quarterhead for the mayor's quarter used the celebration to thank Mayor Fongu for all what he has been doing for the community and wished him well as he continues to lead the Council. Manjong Fidelis joined others to described the recognition as merited urging everyone in the municipality to continue participating in the development process.

"We just finished a Council session and we noticed that our mayor instead of investing 40% and running the Council with 60% as the Cameroon  law says, he has rather done the reverse. He has invested 60% and is running the Council with 40%. This is not usual in this country. Did you here that we have 15 bridges currently being constructed in the municipality? Why should we not celebrated him? Mayor Fongu Cletus is doing well and we are happy. That is why we are here." A Council said.

While receiving gifts from his councilors and staff, the municipal administrator thanked them stating that the recognition was for all in the municipality.
