Electricity in Oshie again
The provisional reception took place on 7 October 2026, marking the completion of the electricity rehabilitation and extension works on the Mbengwi-Oshie network.
Located slightly over 50 kilometres from Bamenda, Oshie is one of the communities in Momo Division that has faced limited access to electricity. The project was implemented by Dreamland Connect PLC in difficult terrain, requiring the contractor to extend electricity infrastructure towards the community.
The contractual scope included a 19.985-kilometre main medium-voltage line, additional distribution lines, transformer installations and associated equipment required to support electricity supply.

The works form part of PPRD interventions aimed at restoring and improving basic infrastructure in communities affected by the crisis in the North-West and South-West regions.
The rehabilitation also extends the electricity network beyond existing serviced areas, connecting a community that has had limited access to the national electricity infrastructure.
Dreamland Connect PLC executed the works in terrain that presented construction challenges, with the extension requiring the installation of nearly 20 kilometres of medium-voltage network together with distribution infrastructure and transformers.
Edison Fru Ndi, Chief Executive Officer of Dreamland Connect PLC
According to Edison Fru Ndi, Chief Executive Officer of Dreamland Connect PLC, infrastructure projects in the North-West also provide an opportunity for the company to contribute to the development of the region where it operates.
Speaking during the provisional reception of the rehabilitated GBHS Bamenda, another PPRD project, he said: “If I am whatever I am today, it is thanks to this region, and each time I have the opportunity to give back, I give it holistically and with all my heart.” The statement reflects the approach he has publicly associated with Dreamland Connect projects delivered in the region inclduing the Mbengwi-Oshie electrification project.
The project addresses a basic infrastructure gap that has affected households and economic activities in Oshie. Access to electricity provides the infrastructure required for improved household lighting, schoolwork and the operation of businesses and small-scale economic activities.
Community members celebrate electricity
The project adds to the growing portfolio of infrastructure works delivered by the contractor under the PPRD, including rehabilitation projects in education and other basic services across the North-West Region.
The provisional reception now places emphasis on ensuring reliable electricity supply and maintaining the newly installed infrastructure.
The Oshie project to the PPRD represents another intervention in the restoration of basic services in communities where infrastructure gaps have persisted.
With the electricity network now rehabilitated and extended, the focus shifts from construction to operation, reliability and maintenance of the infrastructure serving Oshie and surrounding beneficiary communities.
