The 2026 edition of the Bamenda III Council Inclusive Royal Tournament transformed into a homecoming celebration on Wednesday 5 August 2026 as some of the finest footballers in Cameroon with roots in Nkwen, the administrative headquarters village of Bamenda III Municipality, returned to represent their neighbourhood clubs before an enthusiastic home crowd.
For some supporters, it was a rare opportunity to watch players who have made their names in the Elite One and Elite Two championships return to the same community where their football journeys began. Their presence elevated the quality of play while inspiring scores of young footballers watching from the stands.

Ndonwie Fielding being substituted
The star attraction of the day was Ndonwie Fielding, the prolific striker of Elite One side PWD of Bamenda, who featured for Nibung FC in the headline fixture of the day against neighbours Revenge FC of Mbesi.
Fielding demonstrated why he remains one of the most feared attackers in the top-flight championship in the country. His intelligent movement, physical presence, link-up play and constant pressure on the opposition defence made the difference as Nibung FC secured an important 2-0 victory to strengthen their campaign in Pool B.

The encounter also featured Asongwe Lovette and Awamukala Brilliant, both products of Nkwen currently plying their trade with Elite Two side Bamboutos FC of Mbouda. The duo displayed the composure, tactical discipline and technical quality that have earned them places in one of the most respected football clubs in Cameroon.
Another familiar face was Ndiforchu Blaise Fuh, the prolific striker of Aigle Royal de la Menoua, whose reputation as a clinical finisher preceded him. His participation for Nibung FC further underlined the calibre of players the tournament continues to attract.

Also taking part was Ade Mienolf, a former Elite One player now representing Regional Championship side Mankon United, alongside several accomplished regional league footballers who added quality and experience to an already star-studded fixture.
While the elite players were the centre of attention, the results also had important implications for the race to the quarter-finals.
Nibung FC's disciplined 2-0 victory over Revenge FC not only handed one of Pool B's strongest teams its first defeat of the competition but also strengthened the position of Nibung FC at the top of the standings as the group stage approaches its decisive phase.
Earlier in the day, Mbefi FC finally broke their winless run with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Ngweh Ngweh FC in a closely contested Pool A encounter. The result breathed new life into Mbefi's campaign while tightening an already fiercely contested battle for qualification.

Beyond the results, the fixtures reflected one of the greatest achievements of the tournament.
By bringing together professional footballers and grassroots players on the same stage, the Bamenda III Council Inclusive Royal Tournament continues to bridge the gap between elite and community football. Young players shared the pitch with footballers they have long admired, while supporters witnessed familiar faces who have gone on to excel at the highest levels of the domestic game returning to give back to their communities.
For Fongu Cletus Tanwe, Mayor of Bamenda III Council and the organising committee, it is another indication that the competition is growing beyond a community football event into a respected platform that celebrates local talent, strengthens community identity and inspires the next generation of footballers.

Held under the theme "youth at the heart of inclusion and community development," the tournament continues to demonstrate that football is not only about competition. It is about creating opportunities, reconnecting successful athletes with their roots and giving young people living examples that the journey from community pitches to the Elite championships is possible.
