The Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC) has unveiled an ambitious political campaign aimed at breaking the long standing dominance of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) and the Social Democratic Front (SDF) in the North West Region ahead of the 2027 municipal and legislative elections.
The campaign, which surfaced on social media under the slogan "2027: turn the page! the North West deserves better," outlines the party's determination to contest all 34 council seats in the region while seeking to strengthen its representation in Parliament.
Hilltopvoices contacted the MRC Regional Representative for the North West Region, Moritz Kube, who confirmed that the campaign message originated from him and accurately reflects the party's strategy for the 2027 elections.
According to Moritz Kube, the MRC believes the North West deserves a new political direction centred on accountable leadership, economic opportunity, quality education, improved healthcare, modern local governance and inclusive development.
"Our mission is clear. We want to win all 34 council seats in the North West Region," Kube said, adding that a stronger MRC presence in local councils would provide "a united voice for development, transparency, local empowerment and effective representation in Parliament."
The campaign presents the party as an alternative to the region's established political order and carries the message that "history does not change by waiting. It changes when ordinary people decide to do extraordinary things."
As part of its preparations, the MRC is calling on professionals, entrepreneurs, teachers, students, farmers, traditional leaders, youths and other citizens to present themselves as prospective candidates for municipal councils and Parliament under the party's banner.
The announcement represents one of the clearest indications yet that the MRC intends to mount an aggressive campaign in a region where electoral politics has, for decades, been largely shaped by the rivalry between the SDF and the ruling CPDM.
Since the return of multiparty politics in Cameroon in the early 1990s, the North West has remained one of themost politically competitive regions in the country.
The MRC's latest declaration signals its intention to disrupt that political landscape by seeking representation across all local councils and increasing its presence in Parliament during the 2027 electoral cycle.
Whether the party can translate its renewed ambition into electoral gains will depend on candidate selection, grassroots mobilisation and the evolving political climate as Cameroon moves closer to the next round of municipal and legislative elections.
