The Nkambe Regional Hospital Annex has officially carried out the technical reception of a new consignment of modern medical equipment supplied under the 2026 Public Investment Budget of the North West Regional Assembly, marking another step in efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in the region.
Some of the equipment
The project, executed by Dreamland Connect PLC at a cost of 100 million FCFA, is aimed at improving emergency response services, surgical interventions and specialised medical care at the hospital, which has increasingly become a critical referral centre for populations in Donga Mantung Division and neighbouring areas.
Hospital authorities confirmed that the contractor respected the 120 day execution timeline and completed the delivery ahead of schedule while complying with technical specifications and quality standards required under the contract.
The equipment package delivered to the facility includes mobile and fixed X ray machines, anesthesia machines with ventilators, theatre machines, patient monitors, oxygen concentrators, infusion pumps, suction machines, defibrillators, nebulizers, surgical operation sets, traumatology sets, wheelchairs, stretchers, examination beds, laryngoscopes and several emergency and intensive care devices.
For communities in the North West Region, access to specialised healthcare has long been hindered by limited equipment and the need for costly referrals to hospitals in Bamenda or Bafoussam. Patients requiring advanced surgery, trauma care or emergency interventions often faced delays that increased both medical risks and financial burdens on families.
The recent investment is expected to significantly reduce those challenges.
Hospital officials say the newly acquired equipment will improve surgery, diagnosis, maternal healthcare, trauma management and patient monitoring services within the facility. The intervention is also expected to reinforce the hospital’s emergency response capacity and improve treatment outcomes for critical cases.
Speaking during the technical reception exercise, the Director of the Nkambe Regional Hospital Annex expressed appreciation to the North West Regional Assembly for prioritising healthcare investments despite prevailing challenges in the region.
The Director also commended Dreamland Connect PLC for delivering the equipment within the stipulated timeframe, noting that the intervention would strengthen confidence in local healthcare services.
Speaking on behalf of the population, hospital management stated that the equipment would reduce the need for patients to travel long distances in search of specialised treatment, a situation that has historically exposed many families to financial hardship and medical complications.
The development builds on ongoing efforts to transform the Nkambe Regional Hospital Annex into a fully functional specialised healthcare centre.
The hospital was officially upgraded from a District Hospital to a Regional Hospital Annex in February 2023 by the Ministry of Public Health. The transformation was intended to bring advanced medical services closer to communities in Donga Mantung and surrounding divisions.
Since then, the facility has recorded significant progress, including the successful conduct of major surgeries by specialists, reducing the need for referrals outside the division. The North West Regional Assembly had earlier invested in an ultra modern emergency and triage centre as part of broader efforts to modernise the institution.
The latest equipment upgrade is therefore seen as a continuation of that expansion process.
Officials of Dreamland Connect PLC described the successful execution of the contract as part of the company’s commitment to delivering public infrastructure and services with direct community impact.
Edison Fru Ndi, CEO Dreamland Connect“At Dreamland Connect PLC, we do not merely execute contracts. We create lasting impact, restore hope and deliver uncompromising excellence where it matters most,” Chief Executive Officer Edison Fru Ndi stated. “Quality has a name, Dreamland Connect. We deliver on time, done right and guaranteed.”
The investment could play a major role in improving access to quality medical services within the North West Region at a time when many communities continue to face healthcare access challenges linked to distance, cost and limited specialised infrastructure.
With the technical reception now completed pending provisional reception, expectations are growing that the equipment will immediately strengthen service delivery and help position the Nkambe Regional Hospital Annex as one of the region’s emerging centres for specialised healthcare.
