The Bamenda III Municipality has reported a solid financial performance for the 2025 fiscal year, with Mayor Fongu Cletus Tanwe outlining a revenue execution rate of 76.88 per cent during the council’s administrative account session held on Tuesday 31 March 2026.

Presenting the administrative accounts before councillors, the mayor disclosed that total revenue stood at 905,252,860 CFA francs, largely driven by additional council taxes and public investment allocations. He noted that the figures reflect sustained state backing and internal revenue mobilisation efforts aimed at stabilising council operations and addressing persistent development gaps.

On the expenditure side, the council recorded 682,751,344 CFA francs, representing 57.98 per cent execution. Spending priorities were anchored on both investment and recurrent commitments, including infrastructure development, staff remuneration, and social interventions. Key expenditure lines covered construction projects, salaries, subsidies, and financial obligations tied to long and medium-term commitments.

Mayor Fongu Cletus emphasised that the revenue structure was heavily supported by fiscal transfers, local development taxes and additional council taxes, with public investment credits forming a significant portion. He acknowledged that while local collection stood at 36.66 per cent, there remains room to deepen internal revenue generation mechanisms.

The council’s financial performance underpinned a broad development agenda targeting critical sectors. These include the improvement of electricity supply, strengthening of local security, rehabilitation of road networks, expansion of public infrastructure, and provision of potable water to underserved communities. Additional interventions focused on support to farmers and cooperatives, assistance to vulnerable groups, promotion of sports, and the distribution of didactic materials to schools.

The mayor further highlighted the regular payment of staff salaries and statutory dues, alongside the successful organisation of a mini craft exhibition as part of efforts to stimulate local economic activity.

Beyond the figures, the session placed strong emphasis on governance and coordination. Mayor Fongu Cletus called for reinforced collaboration among councillors, the executive arm, council staff and technical services, stressing that effective partnerships remain central to sustaining development momentum.

The 2025 administrative accounts signal a municipality maintaining operational stability while directing resources towards priority sectors, with expectations that improved collaboration and sustained funding will translate into measurable impact for residents.
