Bamenda is set for another rare convergence of energy, expression and opportunity as the Sunrise Arts and Cultural Festival, SACFEST 2026, opens its doors from 25 to 29 March at Alliance Française Bamenda, Veterinary Junction. The festival is being positioned as a must attend event for anyone looking to experience the city’s creative pulse while tapping into new ideas, skills and connections.
Organisers are making a direct appeal to the public, especially young people, artists and cultural enthusiasts, to take part in what promises to be an immersive five day experience. The programme, now fully unveiled, blends entertainment with practical learning, offering something for both audiences and aspiring creatives.
“SACFEST is an inclusive artistic cultural platform promoting local talents, arts for social change and indigenous cultures... It is our wish and commitment to see arts contributing greatly to healing, peace building and economic development.” The coordinator Tikum Titus Akuro said
From the opening day, the atmosphere is expected to be engaging. A red carpet launch will usher in a series of performances including music, theatre, spoken word, comedy and cultural dance. Film screenings such as Hidden Light and Step Back will add depth to the experience, while interactive sessions and interviews give audiences a chance to connect directly with artists.
But SACFEST is not built around passive viewing. The festival actively invites participation. Mental relaxation sessions, storytelling and live performances are designed to create a shared space where people can unwind, reflect and engage.
Immediately after, a resource mobilisation workshop targets those ready to move further. Young filmmakers, artists and content creators will gain practical insights into accessing funding, using digital tools including artificial intelligence and positioning their work for wider audiences. It is a rare opportunity for creatives in Bamenda to access structured guidance without leaving the city.
“With the enormous mental challenges affecting the population, SACFEST seeks to use arts as a pathway for rehabilitation and economic development,” Tikum Titus added, emphasising why participation matters beyond entertainment.
From previous editionsAs the festival progresses, sessions on creating impactful artistic stories and continued film screenings with discussions ensure that learning and engagement remain central. For many attendees, this mix of exposure and training could open new paths in creative careers.
Beyond the stage and workshops, SACFEST also offers a lively social environment. Vendors, exhibitors and cultural displays will transform the venue into a dynamic hub, making it an ideal outing for families, friends and visitors looking for a rich cultural experience.
The message from organisers is that SACFEST is not just an event to hear about, it is one to show up for. Whether to discover talent, learn new skills, network or simply enjoy quality performances, the festival is designed to leave a lasting impression.
Come, experience, connect and be part of something that blends culture with purpose.
