Faith, fellowship and stewardship define celebrations across 31 Presbyteries

Christians of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) are celebrating 68 years of constitutional autonomy from the Basel Mission today, Sunday 9 November 2025. The day marks the culmination of a week of activities held across the Church’s 31 Presbyteries under the theme “Together in Christ, Strengthened Through Stewardship,” drawn from 1 Peter 4:10.

Right Reverend Miki Hans Abia, Moderator of the PCC.

In congregations across the country, worshippers have gathered in thanksgiving services marked by praise, reflection and renewed dedication to the Church’s mission. Throughout the week leading to today, parishes organised a range of outreach and fellowship activities designed to highlight the PCC’s identity as a community-centred denomination.

Evangelistic visits to hospitals, prisons and underprivileged communities featured prominently, alongside sporting and recreational events such as sack races, balloon races, handball and the traditional game of numbers. In many congregations, members of the Christian Women Fellowship (CWF) and the Christian Men Fellowship (CMF) faced off in friendly tug-of-war contests, drawing excitement and laughter from onlookers.

Music, a defining element of the PCC’s heritage, also played a key role. Choirs from different parishes took part in choral competitions and concerts celebrating unity in faith and service.

The highlight of today’s celebration is the reading of the Moderator’s message, delivered exclusively by parish pastors during worship. This year’s address holds special significance, as it is the first to be presented by the Right Reverend Miki Hans Abia since his election as Moderator of the PCC.

Across Cameroon, the faithful are using the anniversary to reflect on nearly seven decades of growth, evangelism and community engagement, reaffirming the PCC’s place as a pillar of faith and social development in the country.
