MINAT described Tchiroma’s action as a serious breach of legal provisions governing the electoral process and an irresponsible attempt to undermine the integrity of the elections. The Minister noted that the candidate failed to secure representation in half of the country’s polling stations and accused him of attempting to coordinate a “diabolical plan” with local and foreign networks aimed at destabilising the nation.
The Minister recalled that, prior to the election, on 10 October 2025, MINAT had warned the public that a candidate intended to self-proclaim victory in defiance of official procedures. Administrative authorities had reported that Issa Tchiroma was allegedly working with networks to collect and announce election results outside the official channels.
MINAT further highlighted that 5,575 national and international observers were accredited and deployed across Cameroon’s ten regions, reporting that the presidential election was conducted without major incident. Any minor irregularities noted were considered unlikely to affect the overall outcome or the integrity of the vote.
The Minister concluded by reminding candidates of the importance of respecting the law and the words of President Paul Biya: “You must not play with Cameroon.” He reassured national and international audiences that the Government is committed to maintaining safety and public order before, during, and after the election.
