At a workshop organized in Bamenda, Thursday 31st July 2025 by Bamenda III Council for community leaders from Ndza village which is source of water supply to the Bamenda III council water supply project, CAEPA announced donation of 250 trees.This they said was to be planted at the water catchment areas in Ndza village to conserve water for regular flow. Catchment at Ndza is source of Bamenda III Council water supply .
CAEPA Cameroon representives and Bamenda III Council officials The seminar organized by Bamenda III Council to build capacities for community leaders, water management committee and the youths of Ndza village was aimed at curbing water at nibbing in the water crisis which has affected residents of Bamenda III Council area for some years and counting.
Bamenda III council had had vision with the backing of a German body to supply constant portable water to its municipality, organized the works to ensure that there is access to clean, safe and regular flow of that precious liquid to at least 90% of its residents..
According to the first deputy mayor of that council, Margaret Ndzelen, Bamenda III Council wants to ensure that there is sustainable water flow to at least 90% of the inhabitants of the municipality.
Justifying reasons for organizing the training for farmers, graziers and water management body, she insisted that it was maintain water security and sustainable supply in her council area.
" You know the very first thing is knowing where the water comes from before thinking of filtering and distributing it to the population and it is the catchment and spring areas in Ndza, which we are talking about
" she intimated.
The council she said works with the people not for the people. Reasons why the seminar was organized for the council to work in synergy with NGOs, water management committee, technicians and Ndza youths to ensure regular water supply in Nkwen for a sustainable development in that council area.
In that regard, she explained the importance water as a source of life, which prompted the council to invite farmers, graziers and Ndza youths to help them understand the importance of managing the catchment area so as to conserve water for the population. She expressed deep gratitude to CAEPA for its donations to Bamenda III Council of 250 environmentally friendly trees for the Ndza water catchment areas.
Donations of 250 trees to Bamenda III Council by Community Agricultural and Environmental Protection Association, CAEPA was announced at the seminar by its delegate Taseh Dieudonné.
He expressed deep joy for the vision gotten by Bamenda III Council to organizing a training session for local inhabitants of Ndza village in their subdivision to conserve catchment for water which is source of life and survival.
He stated that there is no life without water.
He furthered that the hand of fellowship which CAEPA has extended to Bamenda III Council is just the beginning of many goodies in the pipe line for the population of the municipality.
He concluded that his association, CAEPA-Cameroon has as plans to plant over two million trees in the country the end of the year in a bid to solve water scarcity difficulties in communities and control climate change. So planting environmentally friendly trees at catchment areas he revealed, is using one stone to shoot two birds.
One of the resource persons from Transit Enterprise for Water Management and Hygiene , Fonche Robert a water technician with deep field work carried on the hills of Ndza, showed satisfaction for plans by the council to have put in place a water committee in Ndza to cater for the catchment and other water supply challenges. He was hopeful that if a new Water Management body is elected and installed in that village considering its accessibility to the catchment area, it will enable enough water supply to Bamenda III Council area and by extension Bamenda city council area as a whole. He placed a plea to the council for funds to be conceived for the water management committee for the running of its Affairs.
It was resolved at the end of the workshop that within a timeframe of one week, a water management committee was to be elected from amongst inhabitants of Ndza village and be installed by the council to run activities at the catchment and other issues concerning water installations and maintenance.
