BREAKING NEWS: Prof Maurice Kamto hearing adjourned as debate over case merger stalls proceedings

Earlier today, the Council began hearing the joint petitions of Maurice Kamto and Dieudonné Yebga, both filed through Manidem. However, proceedings have been temporarily halted following a heated debate over whether the two cases should be examined together. Kamto’s legal advisers have strongly objected to the merger, insisting on separate consideration.

President Clément Atangana has taken the objection under review, and the session has been adjourned for 15 minutes while the Council deliberates on the procedural dispute.

So far, five rulings have been delivered: two rejections  including challenges by Léon Theiller Onana against President Paul Biya’s candidacy and Vincent Sosthène Fouda’s appeal over his own disqualification and three inadmissibility decisions relating to petitions from Bertin Kisob.

With the Kamto-Yebga matter still unresolved and over two dozen petitions yet to be addressed, the Palais des Congrès remains on edge as all eyes await the Council’s next move.
