The Best Player of the ongoing Bamenda III Council Inclusive Royal Tournament 2025 will walk away with a brand-new motorcycle, thanks to a donation from Austin Tanui, a businessman from Nkwen currently based in South Africa.

Though absent at the ceremony, Tanui’s gesture was officially unveiled on Tuesday 19 August 2025 when the tournament’s coordinating committee presented the motorcycle to Mayor Fongu Cletus Tanwe at the Bamenda III Council.
Mayor Fongu described the support as timely and inspiring, noting its value in motivating young footballers.
“This donation is more than a prize; it is a motivation. When our sons in the diaspora give back in this way, they show that they believe in the dreams of our youths. On behalf of the Council and the organising committee, I express our deepest gratitude for this thoughtful support,” the Mayor said.

Tournament Coordinator Boris Atang also welcomed the gesture, calling it a boost for the competition’s credibility.
“A prize of this nature changes the story of community football. It tells every player that their effort is valued and that excellence will be rewarded. We thank Mr Austin Tanui for setting such a remarkable standard,” Atang remarked.
The tournament, which has already produced shocks including the early exit of defending champions Alahlieh FC, now heads into the semi-final stage on Wednesday 20 August: Olympic FC of Teken will meet King City FC of Mbefi, while Ngwe Ngwe FC of Mile 5 clash with Bayelle FC.
The grand finale is set for Sunday 25 August 2025, where the new motorcycle will be handed to the tournament’s most outstanding performer.
