Bamenda Stadium: Boissons du Cameroun pledge support for construction

The Hilltop Mail has gathered that Boissons du Camereroun has offered to complete the construction of the Bamenda Municipal Stadium. According to sources at the 5th follow-up committee meeting of the Implementation of recommendations of the Major National Dialogue (MND), the brewery company pledged the sum of half a billion francs CFA to reconstruct stadiums in Bamenda and Kumba; all towns in the restive North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.

“This doesn't sound like bad news anyway but we are becoming so used to fake promises over the construction of a stadium in this town (Bamenda) yet nothing has happened. What is the guarantee that this will be true? Let us just wait.” A football enthusiast whose name we are withholding reacted to the news.

The project for the construction of the Bamenda municipal stadium was launched during a heavily publicized and attended foundation stone laying event in Bamenda on April 20, 2016 by North West Governor, Lele Lafrique Adolph T.D and then Football Association President, Tombi  Roko Sidiki.

The construction of the 2500 seat capacity stadium has not been completed from then till date. The construction contract was given to Prime Potomac of Ben Mondo.

Successive President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) in Seidou Mbombo Njoya and Samuel Eto'o Fils have fail to construct the facility following what sources at the institution claim is a court case over the stadium. It is not clear how the brewery company will manage the issue with the pending court case.
