The Nkambe Regional hospital Annex has performed the first major surgery by specialists , a surgeon and an anaesthetist today since the creation of the hospital in 1956.
The director of The hospital Dr Moye Divine Justice has described the surgery as a major achievement by the ministry of public health and the government in the realization of specialized health services to the population of the division and it's environs after the transformation of the district hospital to a Regional Hospital Annex on the 20th of February 2023.
The major surgery was performed for the first time by a team including two experts , an anesthetist an the leader of the team expert surgeon Dr Nkumbe Elvis. It is worth mentioning that this is the first surgery by a surgeon and the first anaesthesia by an Anaesthetist in the hospital since it's creation aimed at relieving the patient of intestinal perforation.
Without these services the patients would have been refered to Bamenda or Bafoussam making things worse during this period of crises that has witnessed an unprecedented increase in transport fare that not everyone in the community can afford.
The transformation of the hospital, the introduction of modern health equipment and the transfer of experts to the institution is a major realization by government to the population of Donga Mantung Division and her environs.
