By Bakah Derick

Sources from the divisional headquarters of Boyo say almost 100 of the 122 voters expected for  voting have effectively voted in GTHS Fundong. The Mayors of Fundong, Belo, Njinikom and Funfuka are reported to have led their councilors in the voting exercise.

The voting that started at about 8am according to our sources in Fundong involved 112 municpal councilors and 10 regional coordinators.

Boyo is one of the divisions seriously affected by the ongoing armed conflict in the region.
Just shortly after noon, the voting rate is over 80 percent in the other divisional headquarters including Mezam.

Regional councilors are taking part in the elections for the first time.

Streets are empty in the city of Bamenda like elsewhere in the region following a ghost town called call by advocates for a new country including the North West region.

Vote counting is expected to begin by 6pm. While waiting in Bamenda, councilors are said to be in small clusters at upstation where Mezam voters voted.
