The President Marion OBAM accompanied by her predecessor Denis NKWEBO and two other members of the new National Executive met the Labour Minister on Wednesday 13 July 2022 in Yaoundé.

During the encounter that lasted over 50 minutes, www.hilltopvoices.com has gathered that the CJTU leadership discussed several issues. According to Loiris Clement Adiang, the new national secretary for Communication and Alerts, discussions focused on the recent congress held in Douala as well as problems faced by journalists and related media professionals in the country.

Marion OBAM has described the meeting as fruitful especially with the Minister's commitment to work for the improvement of work and lives of media professionals in Cameroon.

With over 20years of existence, CJTU is the largest union for media professionals represented in all ten regions of the country.
Shortly after her election during the early hours of Sunday June 26 in Douala, the new President promised to work hard to maintain the steam of his predecessor and ensure the union grows professionally.

Since her elections, she has kept to her promise of ensuring that all documentation from her office appears publicly in English and French being the official languages of Cameroon.

Marion OBAM is the first woman to be elected at the helm of the union with many commentators suggesting that it could be the first across Africa or at least for many sub regions in the continent.
