Cameroon Amputee Football League: 2020/2021 Golden boot winner targets Europe

The Golden shoe winner of the 2020/2021 #Cameroon #National #Amputee #Football League has expressed his desire to play in #Europe. Fon Dieudonne who finished top on the league goal scoring chart with five goals including a hat trick shared his ambition with the press in #Bamenda on Wednesday 11, August 2021.

Speaking during a press conference alongside his teammates, coaches and partners, Fon Dieudonne whose goals contributed immensely in giving his team Abakwa Amputee Football Club the championship title,  admitted that with the current situation of the sports in Cameroon,  amputee football cannot put food on the table. He explained that but for the support which they have received through the Socio Economic Empowerment of Persons with disabilities (SEEPD) program of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services, nothing comes to them from elsewhere.

For up keep and the running of other activities, Fon said his teammates do other jobs to keep the club alive. He has expressed the wish to continue to empower those who are in income generating activities so as to insure sustainability for the players and club.

With the provision of training and meeting infrastructures as well as sourcing for funding opportunities for the country's amputee football reigning champions  as their contribution so far,  the SEEPD programs Manager Awa Jaques Chirac has committed his organisation to continuously support sports for persons with disabilities generally and amputee football in North West Region and Cameroon in particular. 

Abakwa Amputee Football Club has also used the presser to announce the presentation of their trophies from the national league to the entire city soonest. 

Despite no official support from the state with the need expressed via letters to different authorities, the amputees hope to represent  Cameroon honorably during the Amputee Football nations cup in Tazania in November to December 2021.
