SAVE THE CROWN: NW showcases cultural prowess with RECAN relaunch

The Northwest region known as the citadel of culture in Cameroon has reawakened its cultural activities halted for sometimes by the hostilities in that part of the country.


The event brought together Artists from all cultural domains in the Northwest region at Bamenda Up-Station for a weeklong activities to   showcase their knowhow in music, embroidery, cinematography, theater, dances, aesthetics among others.

To run from Tuesday October 8, to Saturday October 12, in respect of the  2019 National Artistic and Cultural #RENCANNW2019Season Relaunch, known in its French acronym as RECAN, artists pinned up stands to display their talents for public appreciation and consumption.



Flinging open the doors for those activities to kickoff, the Northwest regional governor Adolf Lele Lafrique lauded the steering committee of RECAN for mobilizing NW artists in their numbers in our present context.




He promised that," culture will not be neglected in projects of our country's emergence come 2035. Regional Councils that are awaited will focus on that ".



He equally highlighted the fact that the specificities of the culture of the Northwest region was taken into consideration during the Major National Dialogue organized by the head of state some days ago.



To boost and keep the flames of Northwest culture burning, private investors were enjoined to invest in the cultural domain which are tools to the development of communities,the region and the country.



Pundits brought up suggestions that for culture to remain afloat, cultural activities should be organized weekly, monthly and annually.

North West Cameroon: Remarkable Cultures I- The Nso People

They own, and with pride, use Lamnso (language of Nso) anywhere they are found.
