Rev. Fr. Beltus Asanji Tabefor has officially taken over as Director of Communications for the Archdiocese of Bamenda following a formal handing-over ceremony presided over by the Archdiocesan Chancellor and Notary, Rev. Fr. Derek Che Choh.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Directorate of Communications of the Archdiocese of Bamenda and marked the transition of leadership from Mrs. Priscillia Agendia, who proceeds on retirement after years of service to the Church's communication mission.
The handover follows the recent pastoral appointments and transfers for the 2026/2027 pastoral year announced by Archbishop Andrew Fuanya Nkea, which named Fr. Beltus Asanji as Archdiocesan Director of Communications, Director of Television and Radio Evangelium, and Supervisor of Arise.
The transition comes at a strategic moment for the Archdiocese as it seeks to strengthen its media presence and expand its evangelisation efforts through modern communication platforms.
As Director of Communications, Fr. Beltus Asanji will oversee the Archdiocese's digital, audiovisual and print media operations. His responsibilities include coordinating communication activities across parishes and institutions, managing online and social media engagement, supervising audiovisual productions, strengthening Catholic journalism, and advancing the development of Evangelium Radio and Television.

The appointment places him at the centre of efforts to modernise the Church's communication structures and improve the dissemination of information to the faithful and the wider public.
Rev Fr. Beltus Asanji brings extensive experience to the position. A priest of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, he has earned recognition as a digital communicator, Catholic journalist, author and media coordinator. He recently served as one of the General Coordinators of Communication for the Apostolic Visit of Pope Leo XIV to Cameroon, helping to coordinate information flow between local and international media organisations covering the historic event.
His contributions to journalism and communication were recognised in 2025 when he received an award from the Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union for professionalism and excellence in journalism during activities marking World Press Freedom Day in the Northwest Region.
The incoming director also inherits significant responsibilities, including efforts to revive and develop the long-standing vision of a fully operational Catholic television station for the Archdiocese, while strengthening existing communication platforms in a region where credible information, peacebuilding and pastoral outreach remain critical.

For her part, Mrs. Priscillia Agendia leaves behind a legacy of dedicated service to the communications apostolate of the Archdiocese.
With the official handover completed, Fr. Beltus Asanji begins a new chapter in the communication ministry of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, carrying the responsibility of leading its media mission at a time when effective communication has become increasingly central to evangelisation, community engagement and the promotion of the Church's message of faith, hope and peace.
