National President calls for strong turnout as journalists prepare for key assembly and annual awards.

The Cameroon Association of English-Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) will hold its Annual General Meeting from 29 to 31 January 2026 in Limbe, with the National President, Jude Viban, calling on members across the country to turn out massively.

Jude Viban made the call during the opening of the North West Media Forum in Bamenda, urging journalists to see the Limbe assembly as a space to strengthen solidarity, and shape the future of CAMASEJ.

According to the national executive, preparations are already in advanced stages, with organisers “cutting the Ts and dotting the Is” to ensure a smooth and productive meeting. The three-day gathering will bring together journalists from all regions to review activities, exchange ideas, and set new priorities for the association.

A major highlight of the Limbe AGM will be the CAMASEJ 2025 Awards, which recognise excellence, professionalism and ethical practice in journalism. Through its Awards and Recognition Committee, CAMASEJ has opened a call for nominations for journalists and media houses whose work between 1 January and 31 December 2025 demonstrated commitment to truth, accountability and public interest reporting.

The awards will cover a wide range of categories, including broadcast, print, online, advocacy, community media and specialised reporting. They also include the prestigious Wache Francis Young Journalist Award, created to honour the legacy of one of CAMASEJ’s founding figures.

Nominations are open from 12 to 24 January 2026, and members and stakeholders are encouraged to submit entries that reflect strong professional values and social impact.

CAMASEJ says the Limbe AGM will not only celebrate excellence but also provide a platform to debate the challenges facing journalism in Cameroon and agree on practical ways to strengthen the profession.
