The MP’s end of year outreach links gratitude, food security and quiet accountability in a constituency still living with the cost of crisis.

In Bambui, Tubah Subdivision, the scene was simple but telling. Vulnerable families, party supporters, widows and internally displaced persons queued patiently as bags of rice were handed over, one by one. In a season marked by rising prices and uncertain livelihoods, the gesture carried weight beyond its material value.

The distribution in Tubah on Saturday 20 December 2025 formed part of a wider constituency wide initiative by the Member of Parliament for Bafut Tubah, Hon Agho Oliver Bamenju. A day earlier, on Friday 19 December, a similar exercise had taken place in Bafut. Together, the two events offered a snapshot of the MP’s recent activities and his continued engagement with constituents five years after his election to the National Assembly.

Across Bafut and Tubah, insecurity has disrupted farming, trade and movement. Many families, especially internally displaced persons, widows and single mothers, now rely on unstable incomes in unfamiliar settings. With the festive season approaching, anxiety over basic food needs had grown sharper.

The Mayor of Bafut Council and CPDM Section President for Mezam IV, Ngwakongoh Lawrence, captured this reality during the Bafut exercise. He noted that abandoned farms and fragile livelihoods had left many households unsure of how they would mark Christmas.

“This is a period when many people were wondering how they would celebrate Christmas, especially IDPs and vulnerable families.. God has used the Honourable Member of Parliament to bring relief. This rice means that a child will have a plate of food on Christmas Day.” he said.

Hon Agho Oliver responded with a targeted distribution of food aid across the two subdivisions. A total of 120 bags of 50kg rice were distributed in Bafut, while 200 bags went to beneficiaries in Tubah.

The initiative served a dual purpose. It was first an expression of gratitude to supporters who turned out massively for the CPDM during the recent Presidential Election. Secondly, it prioritised vulnerable groups including IDPs, widows, single mothers and low income earners.

In Tubah, the Divisional Officer, Massango Metougue Narcisse, described the exercise as a practical translation of national policies on food sufficiency and security. Against fluctuating market prices, he said, the gesture allowed families to celebrate the festive season with dignity.

Beyond the bags of rice, the outreach reinforced a pattern that has defined Hon Agho Oliver’s tenure since his election in February 2020. Speaking to beneficiaries, the MP urged them to remain steadfast in supporting him, the ideals he stands for and the CPDM.

As the year closes, the MP’s Christmas relief has offered food, reassurance and a reminder that political support, when acknowledged, can return as shared responsibility.
