Cameroon Decides 2025
Tracking the Submissions for October 12 Presidential Poll
The race for the Presidency of Cameroon continues to intensify as the deadline for candidacy submissions approaches. As of 7pm Monday 21 July 2025, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) has recorded over 50 candidate files across its regional delegations and central headquarters in Yaoundé.
Among the latest candidates to submit their files is Serge Espoir Matomba, the First Secretary of the PURS (Peuple Uni pour la Rénovation Sociale). Known for his bold ideas and patriotic discourse, Matomba has reasserted his political ambitions. In a powerful January opinion piece, he invoked the legacies of Ruben Um Nyobè, Félix Moumié, and Douala Manga Bell, positioning himself as a steward of generational renewal and national unity.
Other candidates include seasoned contenders and fresh faces representing a broad political spectrum — from mainstream parties to newly formed movements and independents.
Recent Submissions
With hours to go until the official close of submissions, anticipation is high. Citizens, political analysts, and observers alike are watching keenly to see who else will throw their hat into the ring before midnight. The final list of eligible candidates is expected to be published in the coming days by ELECAM after a thorough vetting process.
