6th Bamenda I Peace and Unity Tournament
Launched July 20 | Ends August 30
It was an atmosphere of community spirit with renewed energy as the 6th edition of the Bamenda I Peace and Unity tournament kickedoff with a spectacular launch on Sunday, July 20. The launching ceremony took place at the Bujong Community Field with several sporting activities announced to run till August 30.

The presence of administrative, municipal, traditional, and religious authorities signalled assurance for the tournament aimed at not only bringing peace and unity but promoting youthful talent.
The 6th edition, like the previous ones, is being sponsored by Dr Peter Taniform, an elite of Bamendankwe, which makes up the Bamenda I subdivision.
For one month and two weeks, registered teams will compete in various categories including U17 Football, Senior Football, Female Football, Marathon, and All Hand Games.
Opening Game
The tournament kicked off with a senior football match between Bujong 1 United FC and Ntahgang Youths FC. The physical match ended in a dramatic 1-0 win for Ntahgang Youths FC after a late second-half goal.
Man of the Match award handed
Shei Mansah of Ntahgang Youths FC was named 'Man of the Match' and received a 5,000 FCFA prize sponsored by Anningdoh Credit Union.
The match ended with two yellow cards for Bujong United and one for Ntahgang Youths FC.

Call for Peace and End to Ghost Town
The peace and unity tournament attracted powerful speeches from Dr Peter Taniform, the Mayor of Bamenda I Council Mbigha Felix, and the Divisional Officer, all calling for an end to ghost towns and promoting peace especially as presidential elections approach.
He emphasised sustainability and youth responsibility, saying: “You don’t get peace and go to sleep… I want the peace not only to remain but to multiply and go beyond the North West region.”
On ghost towns, he lamented the economic toll and said: “If at the end of this tournament ghost towns stop, it will be very significant.”
The Mayor and Divisional Officer praised the tournament’s impact, citing its role in unifying communities and showcasing modern sports infrastructure in Bamenda I.
Mega Youth Rally Announced
A Mega Youth Rally has been announced for Thursday, July 24, at the Ntafi Proximity Stadium. Convened by Dr Peter Taniform, the rally aims to unify youth across the region and highlight their potential in rebuilding the image of the North West.
