New Quarter Heads installed in Nkw en

His Royal Majesty Fon Azehfor III of Nkwen has completed the installation of Quarter Heads across several neighbourhoods in the Fondom, marking a simple but significant traditional rite. The ceremonies, which culminated at the palace on July 6, were characterised by unity, and cultural pride.

Quarter Heads from Abangoh, Alalieh, Teken, Menjung, Ntahdzeng, Nkehneh, Ntelah, and Nketesoh were officially installed during a week-long process. Locals gathered in traditional attire, applauding the leaders chosen to guide their communities under the Fon’s authority.

Speaking at the palace, Fon Azehfor III reminded the newly installed leaders of their duty to foster peace, uphold integrity, and avoid extravagance in all community affairs. He cautioned families against selling land simply to finance funerals, urging moderation and collective support through the palace when necessary.

“Let us not bankrupt our families to bury our dead. Simplicity, unity, and love must guide us,” the Fon said.

Administrative authorities including the Divisional Officer for Bamenda III, Ayuni Austin Sakah, were present and pledged support to ensure smooth collaboration between the quarters and the state.

The installations continue on July 20 with ceremonies expected in Lower Menteh I, Namoh, Njengang, Lower Futru, and Mbefi.
