African small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face a longstanding obstacle when it comes to accessing global markets including the high cost of international shipping. Now, a bold pivot by pan-African logistics platform Logidoo promises to turn the tide through a renewed focus on groupage shipping which is a model that combines multiple small shipments into a single container.
Announced recently, Logidoo’s strategic move places groupage at the heart of its logistics offering, positioning the company as a key player in transforming how businesses and consumers on the continent participate in global trade. Operating across eight African countries, including Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Tunisia, Benin, and Cameroon, Logidoo now offers weekly shipping departures from global trade hubs such as France, the United Arab Emirates, and China.
This model significantly lowers shipping costs, especially for importers who cannot fill or afford an entire container. According to CEO Tamsir Ousmane Traore, this move addresses the unique challenges African businesses face.
“Our commitment to groupage reflects our understanding of Africa’s commercial realities... When small businesses and entrepreneurs can import without paying for a full container, we witness meaningful economic impacts at the grassroots level." Traore said.
In many parts of Africa, small retailers, market traders, and online vendors have traditionally been excluded from global supply chains due to minimum order quantities and the prohibitive cost of logistics. With Logidoo’s groupage service, they can now access international suppliers, import goods in smaller quantities, and still remain competitive in their local markets.
Beyond affordability, Logidoo offers a culturally responsive logistics network with service points in major cities including Dakar, Abidjan, Tunis, and Paris. Clients can obtain quotes, book shipments, and track deliveries through the company’s digital platform, while receiving customer support via WhatsApp, the company website, or in-person at local offices.
“We understand that technology alone cannot solve Africa’s logistics puzzle... Our model combines digital efficiency with human support to ensure both convenience and personalised service.” Traore added.
As intra-African and global commerce expands, Logidoo’s groupage strategy stands out as a practical and inclusive solution. By making international shipping accessible to even the smallest players, the company is enabling a new generation of African businesses to scale, connect, and thrive in the global marketplace.
