The Sultan of Bamoun and Senator Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya was amongst the special quests to the Silver Jubilee of the Social Democratic Front SDF, this May 26, 2015 in Bamenda. Being a senior and fervent militant of the Cameroon’s People Democratic Front CPDM, one would have expected him to stay by the Secretary General of his party who was mandated by the party hierarchy to be at the SDF anniversary. This was not the case. Just after the anniversary speech of the SDF National Chairman John Fru Ndi, the imposing bodied Sultan got off and took his leave.

The question has been why he left so early. Many have been quick to say that surely he left in protest following some issues raised by the SDF Chairman. One of them was the reminder that Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya was Minister of Territorial Administration in May of 1990 when the SDF was launched. The next was that he (Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya) refused seeing the application file of the SDF after it was reported that the application was transferred from the office of the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam to the Ministry and many others.

Nothing that traditional rulers do not tell lies in Africa this might have been the issue that caused the Sultan to leave the event ground in protest before the March pass. However he may still leave for more serious state duty calls we are only thinking aloud.
