Hotels and Restaurants in Bamenda Trained to Boost Local Coffee Consumption

The North West Development Authority (MIDENO) has stepped up efforts to expand the market reach of Kola Coffee, a premium local brand produced by the North West Cooperative Association (NWCA). Through a one-day training workshop held on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, in Bamenda, the authority brought together hotel and restaurant owners as well as catering service providers to learn how to promote and serve the coffee more effectively.

The initiative seeks to increase awareness and consumption of Kola Coffee by positioning it within the hospitality industry as a product of choice. Participants were introduced to the brand’s unique qualities and guided on practical ways to include it on their menus.

Resource persons also shared insights on marketing strategies, consumer engagement techniques and the role of effective publicity in strengthening local brands. MIDENO officials said the workshop was part of broader efforts to support agricultural value chains in the region by linking producers to local markets.

By encouraging hotels and restaurants to showcase Kola Coffee, MIDENO and the NWCA hope to build stronger community pride around locally made products while enhancing income opportunities for farmers.
