Barely a day after provisionally receiving four blocks of 84 newly constructed sheds at the Nkambe New Market, the Nkambe Council has already set its sights on further expansion to meet overwhelming demand.

In response, Mayor Nfor Musa Shey, working alongside engineers and surveyors, has initiated plans for the construction of additional sheds at the site.
The move is an indicator to the council’s determination to ensure that the municipality’s commercial infrastructure keeps pace with the realities of a growing trading population. By extending the Nkambe New Market, the council aims to decongest existing trading areas, create safer and more orderly conditions, and strengthen the town’s role as a commercial hub for Donga-Mantung Division.

Together, these initiatives reflect a forward-looking approach to urban planning, anchored in the council’s broader 2026–2030 Development Plan. If realised as envisaged, they could significantly boost household incomes, stimulate rural production, and reinforce Nkambe’s position as one of the fastest-modernising councils in Cameroon’s North West Region.
