The economist framed his message around political renewal, the fight against corruption, and institutional reforms. He pledged a style of governance rooted in inclusion, equity and sustainable development, positioning himself as a credible alternative for voters seeking change after 43 years of President Paul Biya’s rule.

At just two weeks before the polls, Bouhga Hagbe’s debut marked a significant moment in his bid to win over the electorate. Drawing on his career at the International Monetary Fund since 2002, he highlighted his experience in fiscal and monetary policy, public finance management and development challenges across Africa and the Americas as proof of his readiness to govern.
