SDF North West mobilises for victory at regional conference, pledges full support to Joshua Osih after candidacy validation

SDF North West Regional Conference

Cameroon Decides 2025

The Social Democratic Front (SDF) in the North West Region has launched its full-scale mobilisation campaign for the upcoming presidential election, firmly pledging total support to its flagbearer, Hon. Joshua Osih. This resolve was declared during the party’s regional conference held in Bamenda, chaired by Mayor Fongu Cletus Tanwe, the party’s Regional Chairperson and the lone SDF Mayor currently serving in the region.

The conference coincided with the announcement from ELECAM, Cameroon’s electoral board, confirming Joshua Osih’s name on the final list of 13 approved candidates for the 12 October 2025 presidential poll. Reacting to the news, Mayor Fongu expressed satisfaction and confidence in the party’s readiness.

“The ELECAM Board has validated our candidature, and we knew that it would be validated because we are an organised party. We make sure everything is properly done. That is why we were very sure our candidacy would face no issues.” he said

The regional conference, which focused on preparing for the presidential race, concluded with a unanimous resolution from SDF structures across the region to ensure Hon. Osih garners overwhelming support at the polls.

“We have resolved that we are going to give our candidate, Hon. Joshua Osih, 100% support come October 12. We have taken several key resolutions that will guide us to achieve that objective. Mayor Fongu Cletus stated.”

Among the top priorities is a region-wide voter mobilisation campaign. The party will embark on door-to-door sensitisation to ensure every potential supporter retrieves their voter’s card and turns out on election day.

Mayor Fongu acknowledged the ongoing security concerns across parts of the North West, a region significantly affected by the prolonged Anglophone crisis. However, he maintained that this would not deter the SDF’s determination to campaign and reach voters.

“We are aware that there are still very hot areas in the North West region, but most areas are now pacified. We want to call on all residents not to stay at home. The SDF is coming onboard now, first of all, to resolve the Anglophone problem.” he noted

Breaking down the crisis into two key dimensions being hostilities and politics, Mayor Fongu outlined the party’s proposal.

“We are promising the people of the North West that we will stop hostilities within 100 days. As for the political aspect, it may take longer, but we are committed to delivering a peaceful and lasting solution.” he said

In addition to confirming electoral strategy, the regional conference outlined several resolutions, including:

  • Intensified voter education and mobilisation;
  • Door-to-door outreach to drive voter card retrieval;
  • Coordinated campaign strategies despite regional security risks;
  • Grassroots messaging focused on peace and change.

The conference closed with a defiant call to action from the Chairperson.

“We are going to ensure that at the end of 12 October, the CPDM will be history in this country.”

With its strategy now clearly defined, the SDF North West looks set to hit the campaign trail with renewed energy and determination, confident in its candidate and committed to delivering what they describe as a long-overdue political shift.
