According to the report, over 90 per cent of projects earmarked for this year had already been realised by July a performance Mayor Musa Shey Nfor described as “evidence of our collective commitment to building the Nkambe we all envision.”

The council session also endorsed the updated Nkambe Council Development Plan for 2026–2030, charting the municipality’s priorities for the next five years. Among the flagship projects approved were the second phase of market shed construction at the Nkambe New Market and the development of low-cost housing to address the community’s pressing accommodation needs.

Other envisaged priority projects include improvements in road infrastructure, expanded access to potable water, and initiatives aimed at boosting local economic activity.

The unanimous vote comes on the heels of a recent community engagement exercise in which the council gathered input from residents, traders, youth groups, and traditional leaders to ensure development efforts reflect local needs. This participatory approach, Mayor Nfor emphasised, has been instrumental in aligning the council’s agenda with grassroots expectations.

The strong endorsement by councillors signals renewed political cohesion in the municipality as it moves into the second half of the year and lays the groundwork for sustained progress under the 2026–2030 plan.
