Tubah Mayor recognised for uncommon community development efforts


The Mayor of the Tubah Council in Mezam Division of the North West Region has received recognition for his development efforts in his municipality.
The award which was highly welcomed by many who showed up for the event and a good number of traditional rulers was handed over to Mayor Tanjong Martin Saturday June 9 during a highly attended event in Bamenda by the periodic English language newspaper; the Lifetime.

Placed under the distinguished patronage of the Governor of the North West Region with the theme: Peaceful Coexistence, the award event organizer; Lifetime Newspaper publisher Tim Finian noted that his awards celebrate outstanding achievements with a direct impact on the community and the lives of other people.
The award to Mayor Tanjong Martin as Mayor of the Year celebrates the many roads opened and maintained in Tubah, the infrastructural development, the commitment towards the fight against corruption and effective management of the council.
Speaking on behalf of the jury, Jeff Ngawe explained that all nominees were observed for a period of 3 years with attention to their social, political and economic activities.
Not only did the Lifetime recognized the works of Mayor Tanjong Martiin but also the Fons of the NW who decorated him at the event celebrated him as an uncommon achiever and as he symbolize the sharp agent of change he has been in the Tubah Municipality and he was encouraged to do more in that light  just before he was presented to the Fon of Bambili to be used in his new capacity.
Mr. Peter Ngufor of the farmers house was also recognized in by the Fons. (Red feather).
Laureates at the award event 
Talking to the Guardian Post after receiving his award and decoration from the Fons, Mayor Tanjong expressed his elatedness with the recognition from the lifetime newspaper and his royal highnesses. I hold this particular award dear because I am a front line fighter for development in my municipality and in the fight against Climate Change by putting stringent measures in place for nature protection, tree planting and recycling.” According to the Mayor, he takes this as motivation to do more to achieve his vision of turning Tubah into a modern Society.
Mayors recognized in the same category were; Mayor Jaff Romanus of Jakiri and Mayor Bunyui Emmanuel of Ndu. Other persons and institutions considered as nation builders in the categories such as of Micro Finance, customs, printing press, entrepreneurship, music and more also received awards.
The Fons of Guzang, Chomba, Bambui, Bambili, Bafanji, Nsongwa, Representative of Nkwen Fon all answered present. .

North West Cameroon: Remarkable Cultures I- The Nso People

They own, and with pride, use Lamnso (language of Nso) anywhere they are found. They are from the grassfields of Cameroon, with capital being Kimbo (or today known as Kumbo), the Nso People have a rare structured traditional administrative setup, with the Fon at the summit; then there are the   Vibai, aShufai, aYaa, aFai, aShey, etc.  Yeeh Ngwerong  The very religious people give uncommon value to their traditional beliefs, yet are so attached to Christianity and Islam, the two main religions apart from the traditional practices. Even the most learned of them all would always go back home to identify with their roots, either to pay allegiance to the throne of the tribe, occupied by an "immortal" being, called the Fon; according to the cultural belief, the never dies.    Many would also return home just to be and identify with the people during cultural events. Ngam-Ngonnso’ is the melting pot of Nso culture and traditions. It is a week during which the peoole communinion with
